Gold Saucer
General Information
The Gold Saucer is a giant golden structure located in the heart of the Corel Desert. To enter into the large theme park, pay 3,000 Gil, or buy a lifetime pass for 30,000 Gil. Travel through the place by using tunnels leading to the different attractions. Instead of using Gil, GP and BP (battle points) are used. BP are won at the Battle Square, and GP can be won by various ways, such as Chocobo Racing. Below it is the Desert Prison, where criminals caught in the Gold Saucer are taken. The dangerous desert surrounding the prison makes it nearly impossible to escape. Coax Mr. Coates, the boss of the prison, into letting you participate in a Chocobo Race above to acquire your freedom.
Battle Square
The Battle Arena is a great place to spend some time at, and you win many valuable prizes with the BP (Battle Points) you earn. It's also beneficial to have your characters levels high and most of their limit breaks, along with good equipment and materia. The lady at the counter will tell you it's 10 GP to enter, and after paying her and picking your character, you'll enter the battle arena. There are 8 enemies you can fight, each battle getting harder and harder. After defeating an enemy, a slot will start spinning. When you stop it, you'll land on an effect. Most aren't good, but getting a bad one can help you gain more BP. These are the effects you can land on.
5 Levels Down - The character's current level drops by five
10 Levels Down - The character's current level drops by ten.
Accessory Broken - The character's accessory is no longer effective.
All Materia Broken - All Materia are completely disabled.
Armor Broken - The character's armor is no longer effective.
Cure - The character's HP is completely healed at the beginning of the next fight.
Frog - The character gets the Frog status.
HP and MP - The character's HP and MP are cut in half.
Independent Materia Broken - All of the character's Independent Materia is no longer effective.
Item Command Sealed - The character can no longer use the item command.
Lucky 7 - The fighter does not get any effect.
Magic Materia Broken - All of the character's Magic Materia can not be used anymore.
Mini - The character gets the Mini status.
MP The character's maximum MP is cut in half.
Poison - The character gets the Poison status.
Speed - The character's speed is cut in half.
Summon Materia Broken - None of the character's Summon Materia can be used.
Support Materia Broken - The character's Support Materia is no longer effective.
Sword Broken - The character's weapon is no longer effective; physical attacks are basically useless.
Time x30 Damage - The character's time in their time bar at the end of the last battle is
multiplied by 30 to determine how much damage they will receive, but this can't kill your character.
Zero MP - The character's MP (not the maximum possible MP, just how much MP they currently have) falls to 0.
After you pick your effect, you can choose whether or not you want to fight another harder battle or quit with the BP you have. Remember that if you lose a battle, you'll lose your BP, too. If you manage to get to the eighth battle (the last and hardest one) you will also have accumilated 7 effects.
With the BP you win, you can buy different things at the counter, but after exiting the arena you'll lose all your BP. The list below shows what you can purchase at the arena.

When you get 64,000 BP (and already have Omnislash and the W-Summon Materia), talk to the lady at the counter and you can play a special 8 more battles. If you have the Proud Clod as your final battle, you can receive the Final Attack Materia, (or another useless item).
Chocobo Square
Here, you can participate in chocobo racing. Chocobo racing can help you with breeding chocobos and acquiring some rare items. You can race your own chocobos, or bet on others. For an easy win in the ranks up to A-rank, just hold down L1, L2, R1, R2, and the circle button. When you get to S-rank, have your chocobo stuffed with greens, making winning easy.
Event Square
A big theater is here, but you won't be able to do anything until your date where you star in a play, which can be funny or serious depending on how you play it.
Ghost Square
Ghost Square is simply a haunted hotel, and you're not going to get much out of doing anything here.
Round Square
Pay 10 GP to go on the Gondola Ride. Look out the window to see cool shots of the Gold Saucer. You'll also go on your date here, where there'll be more neat shots and won't have to pay 10 GP.
Speed Square
After paying 10 GP, you get on a roller coaster with a gun for shooting targets as you go along. Targets are 30-70 points each, but the giant UFO is 1000 and the boulder on the canyon is 2000. You'll get a great item if you score high.
Wonder Square
This is a big arcade and canbe lots of fun. Pay Gil to play the games and try to win GP. The lady in front has some great stuff you can buy from her with your GP. For 2000 GP you can buy the best item she has, the GP EXP Plus Materia, and for 1000 GP you can purchase the Gil EXP Materia. Potions, Ethers, a Gold Ticket (lifetime pass to the Gold Saucer), and a Carob Nut are also available. Here's some info on the games you can play.
Fortune Telling: 50 Gil - This can predict something in your future in the game. Keep coming back later in the game to get a different reading.
Arm Wrestling Mega Sumo: 100 Gil - Pick the Sumo or the Wrestler, and tap the circle button as quick as you can. Beat the Sumo and get 1 GP; beat the Wrestler and get 2 GP.
Mog House: 100 Gil - The first time you play this game, you'll get GP, but after that you won't get any. Just feed Kupo Nuts to the Mog until he makes a different sound than befor, and then do the same thing later and you'll win. Talk to the guy behind you for 30 GP.
Wonder Catcher: 100 Gil - You'll either receive a potion, some GP, or nothing. I really don't think this should be considered a game, but you get the point.
3D Battler: 200 Gil - Pick an attack. Upper body beats lower, but loses to middle. Middle body beats high, but loses to lower. Lower body attacks beat middle, but lose to high. If your attack beats the game's (your opponent's) attack choice, you win that game. If your opponent's beats yours, you lose that game. Nothing happens if you each have th esame attack. Get 10 wins first and a harder opponent will come out.
G Bike: 200 Gil - Press circle to attack to the right, and square to attack to the left. Crash the other motorcyclists with your sword or banging into them (but this hurts you too). Staying close to the truck is a good tactic to use. If you do well you'll earn GP, and possibly an item.
Snow Game: 200 Gil - Pick a course and snowboard to the finish while trying to get red balloons for one point, blue balloons for three points, and green balloons for five points. Although, you'll also have to maintain control of yourself by not hitting walls. Do well enough to unlock the medium course, and then the hard course. You can win GP and maybe an item here.
Super Dunk: 200 Gil - This is a basketball game. Hold down the circle and release it to try and get the ball into the basket. Each basket gives you one GP, but after you miss the basket, the game ends. Getting into the right rythm of releasing the ball can be tricky, but once you've got don't let it go!
Torpedo Attack: 200 Gil - There are 5 levels (each one getting harder) in this game. Try to take down the red submarine. Yellow submarines and mines will make this tough, but try to keep close with the red submarine. You can win GP and an item here.
