Battle System
+In Suikoden, there are 3 types of battle systems. In here, I'll cover the basics; if you want a more complex guide on something, check out the other sections.
Traditional Battle System
This is the battle system you will be using 99% of the time. Like most RPG's, its turn-based, so you don't have to think about complexity. At every round, you have the following commands:
Fight
Input battle commands, see below
Run/Let go
Pretty obvious. Let go appears only when you are a lot stronger then the enemy, it allows you to escape at all times.
Bribe
Pay money to escape.
Auto
Let all members do a basic physical attack.
+When selecting fight, a new set of commands for each character is selected.
Attack
Pretty logical, do a single physical attack.
Rune
See "runes" for more info.
Defend
Halve damage taken for the next turn.
Unite
Do a unite attack. (see "unites" for more info)
Item
Use items attached to that character.
War Battles
These are very much like S-RPG battle systems if you ever played it. You might want to check the Wars section.
Duel Battles
These are one on one, to the death battles. Basicly, it's rock-paper-siccors. You can figure out what the enemy will do by what they say; don't worry, it's not too hard to figure out.
Attack
Do a single physical attack, counter with Desperate attack.
Wild Attack
Do a single heavy physical attack, when the enemy guards he counters with an even harder blow, so counter this one with guard.
Guard
Weaken damage taken by attack. Dodge and Counter desperate. Counter with attack.
